Stuttgart is transformed into a winter wonderland: an ice skating rink on Schlossplatz, a Finnish Christmas village and antique market on Karlsplatz, as well as a plethora of festively decorated stalls along many streets and squares shape the city's pre-Christmas image.
The picturesque backdrop to the Old Castle, the towers of the Collegiate Church and the baroque style of the New Palace create the framework for over 200 festively decorated stalls within Stuttgart’s city centre. There is a diverse range of handicrafts, gift items and culinary delicacies – here you will find everything your heart could wish for between 26th of November till 23rd of December, 2014. In the inner courtyard of the Old Castle you can listen to stirring, festive concerts. Stuttgart Town Hall is located only a few metres away and transforms itself into a giant advent calendar during the Christmas market.

A Children’s fairytale world, Schlossplatz
Children can look forward to the fairytale land, which opens its gates on Schlossplatz for arts and crafts, games, carousel rides and for baking. 300 m from Schlossplatz, right by the market hall, children will be captivated by the live nativity scene which features two lambs, two sheep, two goats and a donke.
Antique market on Karlsplatz
In conjunction with the Christmas market there is the medieval antique market, which takes place on Karlsplatz. Art connoisseurs, as well as collectors, are sure to find something of interest here. Various rarities such as jewellery, clocks, porcelain, rare books and much more are sure to have collectors' hearts missing a beat or two.

Finnish Christmas market on Karlsplatz
On Karlsplatz there is also a lively Finnish Christmas market with red log cabins, bonfires and fragrant Christmas trees. Here you can experience Nordic culture up close, enjoy Finnish specialities such as reindeer sausages and of course try some Finnish 'Glögi' mulled wine.
Esslingen Mediaeval Market and Christmas Market
The splendid timber-framed houses and romantic passageways provide the glamorous setting for Esslingen’s mediaeval and Christmas market between November 25th until December 22nd, 2014. Traders wearing historical robes have their goods on sale here. Trades people such as pewterers, felt makers, blacksmiths, basket weavers or glassblowers display ancient craftwork for all to see. The torchlight procession, which passes through the colourful timber-framed houses and passageways on its way up to the castle, is particularly well-loved.
